So in case you have not heard we have moved to San Jose about a week ago. We have moved into a 2 bedroom apartment on the 6th floor. It was the only 2 BD place we found with any semblance of wheelchair access. Neither of us have ever lived this high up! So we finally have Drew's bed out of the living room! It has its own room. In some regards it is more wheelchair accessible than our last place, in other ways it is not. But once we have gotten the management to fix the problem areas that we are pushing them to do (because it's the law!) it should be pretty good. There are some issues in the bathroom, there are no handicap parking spots (!) and the exterior doors are too heavy/close too quickly. The kitchen is large and has all new appliances, which is nice. The counters and microwave are too high for Drew though. The microwave can probably be lowered. There are also no wheel under cut outs but that probably can't be changed. We have a balcony with a great view. We have a lot more windows all with nice views. We are very close to the laundry room (which has machines that Drew can reach), the fitness room and the BBQ patio area that can be reserved for parties. Hannah's room has a walk-in closet (with a light!) and Drew's has a balcony. We are centrally located in town and close to the freeway, which is helpful. Oh and we have air conditioning! Once we get everything unpacked and set up I'll post more photos (and that aren't from my phone) but here are some for now. As you can see the kitchen and bathroom are unpacked but the rest we're still in the process of finishing up. Let us know if you need our new address.
