Drew Pult was born and raised in Northern California. A happy, chubby kid with dreams of being President, or a baseball player, or some other fanciful garbage. That all changed one day in 1998. While attending college in San Diego, Drew contracted encephalitis and nearly died. After heroically defeating the viral adversary, 1 trillionth his size, Drew emerged from battle unable to walk, but with a new, albeit lower, perspective on life. Ever the lover of irony, Drew decided to become a stand up comedian without actually standing. Once called a “smoldering f’n genius in a chair”, Drew takes aim at all topics with a blend of logic and sarcasm leaves audiences laughing and wondering what they just saw. Drew has performed all over Northern California, including the Improv, Punchline, Tommy T’s and was seen on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and San Jose’s Talk of the Town.
Drew is also co-host of nationally and internationally syndicated Antithesis Radio. He's also a 2 time semi-finalist in the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition.
Drew is on the rise, and his potential is limited only by stairs.

"Hey there folks! Thanks for checking this project out. Just the fact that you're reading this gives us a good feeling. Anyway, let's get down to business.
Our documentary is about the ultimate irony, a stand-up comedian who can't actually stand. After contracting viral encephalitis out of the blue, Drew Pult was left paralyzed from the waist down. With his entire world turned upside down, he decided to make light of a bad situation and get started on the comedy circuit.
Follow the man and his wheelchair up ramps and down to the bar as we document his climb from the open mic circuit of the San Francisco Bay Area to the bustling venues of Los Angeles. It takes a lot of balls to make it in this line of work and a lot of friends. We explore a community of comedic hopefuls, pirate radio broadcasts, handicapped parking spaces, and different perspectives of life. They all come together, expressed through irony, jokes, and the ability to make people laugh.
Sometimes laughter is the best medicine…even when that means laughing at a cripple.
While shooting, we ran into a story and a community that was larger and more interesting than we anticipated. We really want to refine the look and feel of our documentary, and go on to tell a compelling and well thought out story beyond our original ambitions. So, that's why we're here on Kickstarter.
If we meet our minimum goal, we'll be able to shoot a lot more at a much higher level of quality than anything you saw in the trailer above. The money will only be used directly towards the completion of the film, including getting access to equipment, locations, travel expenses, and to create an amazing original soundtrack for the film. However, the more donations we can get, the faster and more awesome the film will be, and the more we can give away for free.
The coolest part of it all is what will happen to the film when it's all done. We're making it available for FREE! Not just the entire documentary, but clean stock footage we'll be shooting that other filmmakers can use in their projects for free as well. In addition to that, the soundtrack will be released for free as well. We'll be getting a few talented musicians to compose original songs to maximize the awesomeness.
