We found another couple of potential apts in So Cal. Really the one we found before is way too far from everything. One is in N. Hills by Panorama City, btwn Van Nuys and Burbank. It's a 2 BD, 2 BA and you get 2 parking spots (which is important since we'll need to get a second car). Direct TV, the Internet, water, trash and gas are included in the rent, which is great. It has more drawers and low cabinets which would make the kitchen storage situation a lot better than it is now because Drew could reach them. The microwave is lower so Drew could reach it better. We looked at several places (8) in the area btwn Studio City and Pasadena that were all listed as wheelchair accessible. None of the others were potentials at all either because they had a step into the unit and/or steps inside the unit, the doorways were too narrow or the bathrooms were way too small. This one still isn't perfect because the toilet doesn't have as much room around it as we'd like and we'd have to have them remove the sliding glass shower door but it's doable. There's one more possibility as well, in Valley Village. That's also btwn Van Nuys and Burbank. It's also a 2 BD, 2 BA with 2 parking spots. It's a little more expensive but still workable. So we're making some headway. We haven't decided which would be better yet but we will within in the next few days. So far I haven't heard anything from the 2 most recent schools I applied to in L.A. Both are charter schools. No public schools are hiring social studies teachers; at least not yet.
