Happy Birthday, FIL (father-in-law)... Most of you know we lost Tom, Drew's dad, to colon cancer in late February of this year. This is the photo Drew was very happy to find in a box of old photos. It's of Drew and his father when they won trophies for Little League as pitcher and coach. He talked about it in his part in the eulogy at his dad's funeral.
This has been a rough month, as August often is for Hannah. Her father died three days after he turned 55, in August. This August, we were supposed to go on a cruise to New England and the Maritimes with Drew's family in part for a ceremony to scatter Tom's ashes. Originally Tom and Drew's mom were going to go on this cruise together. But since he passed the rest of the family went with her. It was a 7 day cruise and 3 days we would have spent beforehand in New York City. A few days before we were to fly out to New York, Drew developed another pressure sore (different from the one he had before we moved). So it became clear that we would not be able to go. He would have to be in bed for at least a week straight. He ended up being in bed for 10 days without getting up at all. It is now looking very good, you almost can't see it. But it was sad to miss out on the cruise with the rest of the family. And it's never fun to be cooped up in bed for that long. Hopefully we can go somewhere for the day soon. And the ceremony for his dad was rescheduled since we couldn't be there.
It's been stressful trying find a job. Hannah's applied to 30+ schools and had 2 interviews but no job offers yet. In addition we've had stress from unemployment, too. They're trying to deny benefits for 5 months of pay! Hopefully things will start to look up soon!
